- RBI issued guidelines for licenses to payment banks and small finance banks in private sector.
- RBI issued guidelines for licenses to Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS). The National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) is made the nodal body.
- Brent Crude Oil fell to a 4-year low a barrel. OPEC decided not to cut production inspite of fall in the price due to increased availability of shale oil from U.S. OPEC countries didn't wan't to loose their market share by reducing production.
- GDP growth rate in the second quarter : 5.3%.
- Govt. to withdraw 20:80 scheme and all other restrictions on gold imports.
- Parliament passed the law regarding labour reforms.
